Abstract

In this article the issue of sexual contacts between hospitalized psychiatric patients and female treaters is discussed and illustrated by several clinical vignettes. The frequency of such contact is rare in comparison to those perpetrated by males. Nonetheless, health professionals cannot ignore their existence. Such contact are harmful to the therapeutic relationship and also constitute a major clinical challenge for the subsequent therapist. Every effort, particularly in the educational field, must be made to prevent the occurrence of abusive sexual contact between patients and staff.
