Abstract
Aqueous shunts are being used with increasing frequency as an alternative to trabeculectomy. Aqueous shunt implantation is associated with similar postoperative complications as occurs with standard filtering surgery. In addition, unique complications may develop related to implantation of a device. Careful surgical technique and postoperative care can minimize the risk of complications and optimize outcomes.
