Abstract
This is a case report of a 74-year-old woman who had a rectal villous adenoma associated with severe fluid and electrolyte depletion. This condition is usually found in elderly patients and prompt excision is necessary to eliminate the source of fluid and electrolyte loss. In this instance, it was successfully managed with wide, local excision using a posterior proctotomy, preserving full fecal continence.
