Abstract
Over the past decade, the number of bariatric surgeries has significantly increased. As a result of this trend, more patients are expected to present for body contouring procedures after massive weight loss [1]. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) estimated that over 350,000 body contouring procedures were performed in the United States in 2006, which is a 95% increase when compared to 2000 [2]. As a result, the plastic surgeons must be prepared to manage massive weight loss patients, to ensure patient safety and optimize surgical outcome in elective body contouring procedures.
