Abstract
The vectorcardiographic diagnosis of left ventricular hypertrophy was evaluated in 11 autopsied male patients with anatomic evidence of left ventricular hypertrophy. No direct correlation existed between the thickness of the left ventricle or the heart weight with the magnitude of the polar vector or maximum QRS vector in the transverse plane. These relatively few observations appear to indicate little usefulness for the determination of the magnitude of the polar vector, which is certainly not any more sensitive than the easily determined maximum QRS vector in the transverse plane in the detection of left ventricular hypertrophy.
