Abstract

Vascular anomalies are a group of masses, most frequently occurring in the head and neck of children. They can largely be categorized as either malformations or tumors, with both benign and malignant potential. Various imaging techniques including ultrasound, MRI, or CT can be useful to help distinguish these masses. Treatment consists of a wide range of options dependent on the underlying etiology, including observation, sclerotherapy, laser therapy, medical therapy, or surgical excision. These lesions can have cosmetic significance but can also cause distortion of vital structures and even cause airway compromise.
