Abstract

Attachment and dyadic systems theory is useful in exploring attachment in couple therapy and couples group therapy. These modalities help the two partners better regulate the cocreated, interactive/process aspects of their relationship. They both provide a holding and facilitating environment that promotes the expression and exploration of attachment patterns of each partner and the couple's relational system. Couples group therapy is a particularly helpful therapeutic modality with which to address the issues of personal and couple isolation plaguing many couples in this society.
