Abstract
Tuberculous meningitis refers to the numerous manifestations that follow infection of the meningeal membranes with the tubercle bacillus. In the vast majority of patients, Mycobacterium tuberculosis is the causative agent, though in developing nations bovine strains have been implicated. Guidelines for diagnosis and therapy are discussed.
