Abstract
The clinical and X ray manifestations of tuberculosis of the rib are presented. According to X rays, two forms exist: tuberculous chondritis and osteitis. The X ray changes evolve somewhat differently, but eventually are characterized by destructive lesions associated with a periosteal reaction and a soft tissue mass. Although the lesion is presently uncommon, it is still the most common inflammatory lesion of the rib and occasionally the first manifestation of tuberculosis.
