Abstract
Transurethral incision of the prostate produces similar results to transurethral resection of the prostate. Advantages of transurethral incision are less bleeding and bladder neck contracture, minimal risks of retrograde ejaculation and impotence, and shorter operating time and length of hospitalization. Its major disadvantages are that the procedure is more difficult for larger glands, and occult prostate carcinoma may be missed.
