Transurethral bladder neck surgery in spinal cord injured patients

This is a retrospective study evaluating results of transurethral surgical procedures of the bladder neck in spinal cord injured male patients with neurogenic bladder admitted during a 6-yr period from Jan 1, 1970, through Dec. 31, 1975. Of 377 patients, 287 became catheter-free with balanced bladder on a program of intermittent catheterization, but 90 (23.9%) needed and received transurethral surgical procedures of the bladder neck in order to achieve successful urethral voiding. Seventy-nine patients of this group were reviewed.
