Transfusion Management of Patients Undergoing Hematopoietic Stem Cell

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell typically require significant transfusion support. Blood product selection needs to consider the ABO and RhD types of both the donor and the recipient, as well as the appropriate product modifications needed to mitigate transfusion adverse events. Other considerations include optimal transfusion triggers, platelet refractoriness, and granulocyte transfusions. Close coordination between the transfusion and transplant services is necessary for optimal outcomes.
