Abstract
A 71-year-old woman with recurrent atrial flutter and coronary artery disease was treated with transesophageal overdrive pacing for paroxysmal, symptomatic atrial flutter. The differential diagnosis and etiology of atrial flutter is discussed as are the mechanisms of both types of the arrhythmia and its management. The benefits of transesophageal recording and pacing in atrial flutter and a description of the technique follows.
