Abstract
To effectively serve the needs of their users and capture the attention of their audience, an informationist must have a thorough understanding of who their users are and a working knowledge of their users’ most pressing information needs. This chapter introduces the continuum of information needs experienced by those undergoing medical training. It then goes on to identify core constituencies within the academic medical center/hospital user community and outline the information needs specific to each segment. Readers will receive useful recommendations on potential avenues for embedded instruction and suggestions for outreach strategies to yield invitations to participate in the said opportunities.
