Abstract

The effects of trabeculotomy and trabeculectomy on normal baboon eyes has been studied histologically. Hyperpigmentation, patchy loss of epithelial cells and displacement of the ciliary body and hypertrophy of the trabecular meshwork have all been observed. Mock trabeculotomy and trabeculectomy operations resulted in changes similar to, but not as severe, as those described in the definitive procedures.
