Abstract

Several effective therapies are available for nonmelanoma skin cancers. In addition to surgical excision, cryosurgery, electrodesiccation and curettage, and irradiation, topical and intralesional therapies can provide effective treatment in selected cases, without loss of tissue and with minimal scarring. PDT, a novel modality, should be considered an effective therapy for superficial BCCs (especially multiple BCCs) located in low-risk areas, and possibly offered to organ transplant patients.
