Abstract
In conclusion, pooled data from 32 studies were reviewed to assess the timing of thromboembolic complications after electrical cardioversion of atrial fibrillation or flutter. We found that 98% of embolic episodes occurred within 10 days of cardioversion. These findings may have implications regarding the duration of anticoagulant therapy after conversion to sinus rhythm.
