Abstract

The reactions of chromium and molybdenum hexacarbonyls with bidentate thio-Schiff bases (TSB), derived by the condensation of S-methyldithiocarbazate with benzaldehyde, saiicylaldehyde, acetophenone and fur fur aldehyde, have been studied in anhydrous benzene under refluxing condition. The isolated products of the type QUCO)(TSB)] (M a Cr or Mo) have been characterized by micro analyses, electrical conductance and magnetic susceptibility measurements and infrared spectral data, CO stretching force constants as well as CO-C interaction force constants have also been deduced.
