Abstract

Iopamidol has been clinically evaluated at our institution for intra-arterial carotid angiography use in a randomized double blind study with an ionic contrast agent. Initial benefits of this nonionic contrast agent appear to be in its use in supra-selcctive external carotid arteriography while significantly decreased patient discomfort has been observed, and in the patient with known adverse reaction(s) to ionic contrast media in which iopamidol may be substituted with no subsequent adverse clinical response.
