Abstract

The musculoskeletal physical examination is an essential component of making a proper diagnosis and treatment plan for disorders of the cervical spine. With the expansion of telemedicine, understanding how to perform a full physical examination virtually is crucial to the safety and treatment plan of the patient. Neck pain and disorders involving the cervical spine are commonly treated in musculoskeletal medicine. In this chapter, we discuss the approach to a patient presenting with cervical spine-related conditions, the virtual physical examination, red flags and special considerations during each encounter, management, and follow-up.
