Abstract
c-Jun dimerization protein JDP2 is a member of the AP-1 family that serves as a repressor in gene transcription. To study the role of JDP2 in neuroblastoma cells, we have established a stably transfected SH-SY5Y cell line that carries jdp2 gene. Our results showed that JDP2 could promote neuronal differentiation of SH-SY5Y cells. The SY5Y-JDP2 cells exhibited lower percentage of cells in S phase and retarded growth rate than its parental cells that were accompanied by a higher expression of p21 and an intense reduction of the cyclin D1. In conclusion, the inhibitory role of JDP2 on neuroblastoma cell growth could be critical for the cells to be withdrawn from cell cycle and to proceed differentiation.
