Abstract
The level of a humoral Smooth Muscle Acting Factor (SMAF) increases in the blood of rabbits subjected to hemorrhagic and endotoxin shock. The possible involvement of SMAF in the pathogenesis of shock and proposed mechanisms regarding its release or activation are discussed.
