The numerical simulation of U-channel springback and optimization of forming parameters

Abstract

Using a commercial FE software ABAQUS, the forming process including springback of a U-channel was simulated by static implicit and dynamic explicit FEM respectively. The influence of blank holder force, friction condition and sheet thickness on springback was investigated. To minimize spring-back, the process parameters were optimized by Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II) on Pareto combining with FEM simulation.
