Abstract

This presentation is aimed at summarizing our knowledge of the structure of the normal circulation which includes both its fixed anatomic features and the functional aspects resulting from the fact that alveolar capillaries undergo substantial changes in condition, size and configuration as a result of the prevailing transmural balance of forces.
