Abstract

With aesthetic injectables available and advancing since the 1980s and the continued development of other cosmetic technologies and procedures, physicians have been able to finesse their skills at providing optimal rejuvenation and enhancements for their patients. Aesthetic practitioners of a range of educational backgrounds can play a large role in the physical transformation of transgender individuals. Understanding basic anatomical differences between masculine and feminine features and the medical and surgical interventions available to the transgender population allows any provider to utilize their core knowledge to aid in the transitioning process. There are many benefits to nonsurgical approaches to facial gender affirmation. Individuals are starting the transitioning process earlier and earlier every year, with many taking medications to alter puberty to maximize their adult gender-affirmed appearance. As with all patients, the aesthetic consultation of a transgender patient should be geared toward a patient’s desired outcomes.
