Abstract

A prospective office-based study was undertaken to evaluate the rate of success of single-vision, bifocal, trifocal, and progressive lenses to correct presbyopia. Results suggest that successful presbyopia correction varies with individual patient characteristics. Approximately one-third of the study subjects opted for progressive lens correction, one-third for conventional segmented bifocals, and one-third for single-vision lenses. Involving each patient in the nuances of the lens selection process is critical to accurate presbyopic fit.
