Abstract
A case history of a patient who was being treated for myofascial pain dysfunction and later was found to have mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the parotid gland is presented. The clinical and radiologic diagnosis is described. The need for considering differential diagnoses for both TMJ disorders and diseases of the soft tissue surrounding the joint is emphasized, as are consultations and follow-up examinations.
