Abstract

A case of lymphocytic interstitial pneumonia (LIP) occurring a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is described. Although LIP is commonly associated with Sjogren's syndrome, this is believed to be the first report of its association with SLE. The association of interstitial pneumonia (UIP) and various lymphomas with SLE has been the subject of several reports. The present case in concert with these reports raises the possibility that an altered immune response may play a role in the pathogenesis of these disorders.
