Abstract
A computer based data acquisition and processing system has been developed for the study of normal and pathological human gait. These facilities have been developed to provide both a laboratory service to the clinical community as well as for clinically oriented research directed towards gait pathologies. Since the system users encompass a wide range of disciplines, i. e. , physicians, engineers and physical therapists, computer programs have been written in an interactive manner requiring a minimum of computer training. From these basic parameters, a wide range of kinematic and dynamic parameters, useful in the quantification of gait may be computed.
