Abstract

The reactions of ruthenium(III) and rhodium!Ill) chloride with neutral chalcone semicarbazones (CSc), 2-hydroxychalcone semicarbazones (CSc′H), 2′-hydroxychalcone semicarbazone (SCSc″H) and 2,2′-dihydroxychalcone semicarbazone (DCSc′″H₂) have been studied in absolute ethanol and complexes of type [M(CSc)₃]C1₃, [M(CSc′)₃], [M(SCSc′)₃] and [M(DCSc″′)₂]_n have been isolated, and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, electrical conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements and spectral (electronic and infrared) data. The probable structures of the complexes are suggested.
