Abstract

The eTNS is placed in the middle of the forehead of the patient, and transcutaneous electrical stimulation is applied to the supraorbital and supratrochlear nerves, terminal branches of the trigeminal nerve ophthalmic division. Given the limited side effects of this noninvasive device for episodic migraine prevention and acute treatment of migraine with and without aura, the use of eTNS is overall a safe therapy for most patients but is contraindicated in patients with other implanted electrical devices such as pacemakers.
