Abstract

The electrodeposition of Pt is investigated experimentally. The nucleation and growth dynamics are studied through cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry and the results are analysed by a unified nucleation and growth theory. Surface morphology is investigated by atomic force microscopy. The hydrogen adsorption/desorption method is utilised to determine the roughness factor of the electrodes. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and catalytic activity study are carried out to compare the electrochemical behaviours of the electrodes before and after Pt electrodeposition.
