Study on disintegration site of tinidazol tablets for colonic drug delivery by gamma scintigraphy

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To determine the disintegration site of colonic drug delivery tablets in the gastrointestinal tract. METHOD: The tablets lablled with 153Sm, using tinidazole as the model drug, were administered by two healthy male volunteers and then traced by gamma scintigraphy to find the site where the tablets disintegrated and released the drug. RESULTS: The disintegration site of the tablets was in the ascending colon, and the disintegration time was between 7 h and 8 h. CONCLUTION: The tablets delivered the drug to the colon.
