Abstract

The position of the media server within the next generation network is pointed out. Media server-related key technologies such as kinds of control protocols, hardware based or software based DSP (digital signal processing) and VoiceXML (voice extensible markup language) are discussed. Three kinds of views, i.e., logical view, implementation view and deployment view are used during the general design phase of media server. The outcome is instructive to the people devoted to the same industry.
