Abstract
1. 1. A case of a virilizing arrhenoblastoma is presented in which tumor androgen biosynthesis was estimated by in vivo and in vitro techniques. 2. 2. Tumor venous effluent contained greater quantities of dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate than either arterial blood or peripheral venous samples. 3. 3. Analysis of in vitro biosynthetic products resulting from precursor pregnenolone-7H3 and progesterone-7H3 revealed increased incorporation of radioactivity in testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone. Data are presented which supports the contention that the major biosynthetic route used in this tumor was pregnenolone → dehydroepiandrosterone → testosterone.
