Abstract
Sun protection, a major consideration for patients with intact shin, is especially important for those who have had skin barrier altered by surgical cosmetic procedures. The latter patients, as well as those sensitive to compounds in chemical sun protection products and patients acting on personal preference, may require or choose other forms of photoprotection. In this study, we compared the lens material used in a novel form of photoprotection, the sunblock mask, with a commercially available chemical sunscreen product, with SPF 45. Results showed that, compared with the SPF 45 chemical sunscreen product, the lens material used in the sunblock mask offered superior photoprotection.
