Abstract

Currently it appears necessary only to include the stage of the disease and the performance status in the stratification before the randomization in order to preserve the best balance in the allocation procedure. In the future it is likely that more specific prognostic features may be applied for small cell anaplastic carcinoma, including detailed information on organ metastatic spread, evaluation of the cell kinetic pattern using flow microcytometry, or determination of DNA content.
