Abstract
Over the past 2 years progress has been made in several areas of the study of spine deformity. New avenues for identification of its etiology have been investigated. Both school screening and the use of braces still are controversial. Experimental studies point to alternative biochemical and biomechanical means with segmental fixation and the ways in which they affect cosmesis, general health, and respiratory function.
