Abstract
We describe a patient diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia (PPA), who underwent a 99mTc-HMPAO SPECT four years after the onset of aphasia, which was the only clinical symptom. The brain scan showed a well defined area of left perisylvian hypoperfusion, with no other brain perfusion abnormalities. This fact may support the hypothesis that the PPA is a disease with well defined clinical symptoms and with a more benign course than the diffuse degenerative diseases.
