Abstract

The Janssen Annual Lecture was given by Dr Denton Cooley (Texas), a pioneer in the field of cardiac surgery. Other sessions included an update series on coronary blood flow, lectures on chest radiograph interpretation, and the clinical usefulness of derived cardiovascular variables. There was a panel presentation of controversies in cardiovascular anesthesia, and presentation of two cases for discussion at the anesthesia grand rounds. Current research was presented in the form of oral abstracts and posters. Several related abstracts were presented in a new poster discussion format that was very well received. The eleventh annual meeting of the Society will be held in Seattle, April 16 to 19, 1989.
