Abstract
Sleep debt leads to fatigue and cognitive dysfunction. Insomnia is the most prevalent sleep disorder, having a high incidence in the general population but often going undiagnosed by clinicians. This chapter addresses the diagnosis of sleep-wake cycle disorders according to DSM-5, with a focus on Insomnia Disorder, the challenges in diagnosing these disorders, and current treatment modalities for patients with insomnia.
