Simulation of ultrasonic wave propagation in damaged cortical bone

Abstract

The ultrasonic wave propagation in damaged cortical bone was studied. The waves were simulated to identify a set of variables that were sensitive to the presence of cracks. The results show that the amplitude of the received waveform increased and echo waveform decreased following introduction of crack for both void and water states.
