Abstract
50 consecutive electrocardiographs demonstrating 'poor R wave progression' in leads V1 V4 were obtained from the routine material of the ECG VCG laboratories. Detailed clinical study of each patient, as well as vectorcardiogram was performed. It is concluded that 'poor R wave progression' in precordial leads V1 V4 may result from multiple causes and, as such, is an unreliable criterion for the diagnosis of myocardial infarction.
