Abstract

A hemoperfusion time of two hours may be sufficient for maintenance therapy in uremia, and, in view of this we decided to combine charcoal hemoperfusion with dialysis for a two hour portion of our standard five hour hemodialysis regimen. The activated charcoal device evaluated was a column containing 300 g of acrylic hydrogel coated carbon, primarily developed for the treatment of severe drug intoxication.
