Sex in men over forty

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

'An older man feels less of this urge to ejaculate. He can therefore more easily postpone his ejaculation and enhance the satisfaction of his partner.' A gradual diminution, but not cessation, of sexual functioning represents the normal course of events in most males past the age of 40. Sexual difficulties can often be ascribed to a number of causes including diseases such as diabetes and the side effects of medications. A psychogenic origin can also be incriminated, such as depression or the self-fulfilling belief that after the age of 40 a man has to give up sexual activities.
