Abstract
Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a debilitating condition that requires effective treatment. Pathophysiology is not completely understood; however, contributors include pregnancy, vaginal birth, obesity, menopause, and genetics. Loss of support of pelvic organs could be seen in all three or one of the following: anterior, posterior, and apical compartments. Reconstructive pelvic surgery requires thorough knowledge of pelvic floor anatomy and its supportive components. The development of video laparoscopic surgery by Nezhat has revolutionized modern-day surgery. Here, we describe surgical techniques addressing prolapse.
