Risk assessment for the development of contrast-induced acute kidney injury in patients undergoing PCI

Research output: Contribution to journalShort surveypeer-review

Abstract

With a staggering number of revascularizations, coronary angiographies, vascular angiograms and CT scans being performed annually in the United States, the need to assess the percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) patient's risk for developing contrast-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) is great. This article will discuss the impact of baseline renal function in prognosis after PCI, the risk factors in the development of AKI after PCI and the impact of occurrence of AKI in prognosis after PCI.
