Abstract

Five patients had trauma to the retina that occurred during cataract surgery. In two of the cases the injury was caused by perforation of the globe by the retrobulbar injection needle and in one case the retinal injury occurred when the superior or rectus muscle bridle suture perforated the sclera. A stab incision for release of blood in an expulsive choroidal hemorrhage caused a retinal dialysis. Another case of retinal dialysis was caused by aspiration of solid vitreous after vitreous loss.
