Resolution of acute arterial occlusion and residual stenosis in a newborn

Duplex ultrasound examination of the neonatal circulation is challenging to those who do it infrequently. Trepidation regarding pathology and concern for vessel size and interpretation present challenges for the typical Noninvasive Vascular Laboratory tasked with caring for the adult population. We present, herein, a challenging case of an acute iliac arterial occlusion in an 18-hr-old female and discuss the findings and technical perspective of the examination and its interpretation.
