Abstract

Several recent reports have described stabilization of visual acuity and regression of subfoveal neovascular membranes in response to modest doses of ionizing radiation in patients with the exudative form of age related macular degeneration (ARMD). This paper provides a concise review of clinical radiation therapy and surveys the published literature regarding the use of ionizing radiation to test ARMD.
